1995 Mariner 330 shower drain

Ok, is it a marine heat pump, meaning it is water cooled? Assuming it is, are you talking about the cooling water draining overboard or the actual condensation, which is basically ounces per hour.

The Mariner 330 came with Air Cond as standard equipment. Someone may have disconnected or removed the unit. The sump box for your shower is located under the small hatch on the floor, just outside the head door. It is about 14" X 16", and should have a lift handle exposed in plain sight. May be covered by aftermarket carpeting, but it is there. It sometimes is hard to lift out, but it should. Straight down is the sump box. There should be a round plastic filter to catch hair/shower junk. It is the same as the pic as posted on link from Midnight Sun. It has a float switch pump to evacuate the water from shower/AC condensate. You will also see the water filter for the Air Cond water system, next to that sump box. The AC unit, 16,000 BTU, is located on the port side, just under the main sink. You need to open the cabinet door under the sink, stick your head in, and look to the port side. It is almost impossible to remove, so the unit may still be there. I had that same vessel, but sold it last fall. Good Luck. er

Under the same hatch is your access to the head holding tank. The valve you see to the right is the seacock for water to the air cond. That should be in the closed position. Your head toilet is a Raritan electric and draws water from your water holding tank. Just FYI, the original carpet color was medium blue. It has a switch for the pump on the main panel and also next to the shower. When both are on, the pump runs continuously. Looking down the drain, it appears to drain directly into the starboard bulkhead. From the center bilge access, I can see a hose coming in to the pump and back out through the bulkhead wall.

OK, re-reading your first post. Obviously you have a pump somewhere as you can hear it running. Have you been able to locate it? If not, open up every hatch you can find (search for more), turn it on and follow the sound. Maybe it is just a basic bilge pump, but you need to locate it.

While looking for it, have you found all your bilge pumps? Thru Hulls with related seacocks and strainers? When you locate all your seacocks, determine what each is used for. Onboard water tank and the pump it uses? Holding tank ( have you had to pump out yet)?

Is that the shower drain pan with a screwdriver sticking through the drain?

If so, then it looks like something broke off there. There should be a hose barb on that drain that a hose would connect to. In the upper part of the pic, I see a hose and a hose clamp. What were those for?

Thx for the interest and advice all. Yes, the screwdriver is through the shower pan drain. That hose in the pic that looks like it’s attached to the hull is the broken off shower drain elbow. The hose goes through the bulkhead wall to the pump in the following pic and the left side hose then goes out overboard. The sump box must have been removed. It’s simply not there. This pic is the hatch just outside the head. There is no AC unit under the sink. My neck hurts from looking deep under every hatch, behind every cabinet and drawer, but I now have a complete map of every hose and port on the boat! Lots of mods done over the years. A new sump and pump arrives tomorrow and I just need to reconnect the drain hose and all should be well. Cheers!

And found all the bilge pumps which work. That seacock is now connected to a hose going to a pump/filter and directly to the head

I had a setup like this on a previous Bayliner. There was no sower sump. Simply a switch in the cabinet above the sink which activated a pump, pumping directly overboard. Sure sounds like the same setup on your boat.

Before taking a shower, turn on the switch and when done turn it off. Fix the broken elbow and find out why the pump will not turn off and you should be good to go.

Any reason to not just use that pump and simply reattach the drain elbow? I talked myself into to replacing it with a new sump/pump with on demand switch.

It looks to me that your setup is factory and never had a sump box. You don't have to install an automatic sump box, a lot of earlier boats had a pump and switch by the shower such as yours. A sump box is more convenient though, and allows for hooking up multiple items such as AC condensate, etc. to one central point for pumping overboard. They're also automatic so you don't have to remember to operate a switch.

BTW, no marrettes allowed in boat wiring. Use an adhesive lined heat shrink butt connector.
