I hope your politicians up there are more honest/informed/ethical/collaborative/honest than the politicians to the south. Good luck, hope that order is in play. You all deserve it. Be Smart, be healthy!

And the definition of politician anywhere is.......?????....
Basically they are saying get ready, but all the mayors of the towns around Simcoe have said nothing is open, marinas , ramps etc, etc so day trippers stay away this weekend...TOO early, but soon...

So an update.....It is now OFFICIAL for us here, we can go to the marina to work on the boat starting on Sat..16th. after 10 am.....this comes with a considerable list of rules changes , updates to the work and customer guidelines for safety for all. This is what I have been saying I was waiting for, also it is in writing.....good stuff..
I sincerely hope this is going to work....we should all still be careful and follow the health guidelines and common sense or it can go back again.
Now we can start clearing out the boat room at the house and try to get the season under way......

"Our boat was launched and put into the slip today. Due to restrictions, I was not able to clean and wax the topsides. It will be done in the water this year. At least its in!

We have had evening temps in the 30's the last couple days. 84 for a high tomorrow, 80 on Saturday. What a change."
I put the above on the covid post by mistake.
I wanted to add, this year our marina is launching boats without the owners and towing them into the slips, and tying them up, checking through hulls for leaks etc.

I am heading to the marina today. CBTL is floating in the slip so this will be my first official day of hanging at the marina. Only 4 boats in as of yesterday. Still no power, water, or bathrooms. Minimal dock staff with all kinds of rules regarding staff interaction. Hoping to see some more tenants coming in during the day. At the very least, this "social distancing" concept has provided us with the training of how to be smart at the dock. Wear mask, keep distance, keep areas clean. etc. If there are some people who decide to not "be smart", we can simply stay away. Gonna be really hard to avoid shaking hands though, just such a friendly habit.

Update: Hung out at marina yesterday. While I was there, just putzing around, the dock master informed me I have power, and should have water by end of day. Hooray! The NE wind over the water made temps almost cold. 70F at home, 50F at the marina. Even too chilly for the bay flies to come out, OR they were social distancing. We have 5 boats in the marina. A normal year would be at least 50 boats by now. Weather warming up this coming week, so maybe there will be a lot more by the holiday weekend.

They put the boat in the water the other. I went and picked it up today. From the marina to the slips at my residence is about 900 feet.
I struck something, probably a submerged log, about halfway to my slip.
Definitely bent the port prop.
No point in bringing it back; they have lots of boats to launch.
No damage to the hull. Just a vibrating port prop.
Fortunately, I have a spare set.

Took a swing by the marina.....first day open and the place was packed with people getting boats ready....they have a number of boats in the water already with people on them. So we will get the boat ready to go, just leave the tarp on and wait for two weeks to see what happens from this long week end, then decide.....the daily virus numbers have not changed much in the last month , so hoping all this opening is not too soon.
Geez Fred....bad luck there and only 900 ft to go....

And so the season begins

That's tough luck Fred. Always good to have a spare set. Are you replacing it in the water?
