if you dont want to get 12v power from the windlass and use a remote, on my 97 405 the spot light draws its power from the helm (there is a bridge/helm breaker in the salon main electrical panel) but the individual fuse is there on the dash helm with the control for the spotlight.my thought would be to check behind the helm at the wiring and look for a wire that was pulled but never connected. i can check the wiring color on mine although different year and model but they could very well have used the same wiring colors or someone with your boat could check.

That begs the question, what is the right way? Why would using a handheld be wrong?


If you have a breaker, why not use it. The next potential owner may looK at that with a question mark. For all the time and effort involved, why not finish the job. We love our boats and spend a ton of time on them. Although they do not appreciate, they are investments. To each his own, but for my money, owning a boat is about maintenance and improvements.
