I had to rebuild my port side transmission this past January. In my case a 3007 aft cabin model they had to pull the engine and transmission together to get to and work on the transmission. Cost me a little over $2300. The guy that did the rebuild was a transmission specialist. So far this season so good. BTW, you might want to do what I did and have them change the transmission fluid in the other transmission just because. That is what I did. Now I know that both transmissions had new fluid in 2017 and what the hours were at the time.

Thanks Rick. I think pulling engine on mine is out of question. I believe they will only pull the transmission in my case if it turns out to be the problem. Thanks for the fluid note, I should do that as well while they are at it. I think its going to cost me more, unless I know a transmission guy that is good and available in my area, and unfortunately thats not the case. So I think I am looking at $3k to $7k maybe

Viper once again you were right :) Luckily, it turns out was not the transmission. The transmission coolant unit apparently had a hole and was leaking, caused the lever to have corrosion. apparently also made the starter wet, which dried now. Seems to be working fine, but was told if it goes in a year or two not to be surprised.

Disconnect the cable from the transmission lever. Then try moving the transmission lever by hand. Also try moving the shift lever to see if the cabe is moving freely. That will tell you where to concentrate your efforts.

thanks nightsky, but already have mechanic scheduled to replace the bad cooler unit. He already verified the issue at this point, so we are good for now.

Well, lucky for me it was not transmission. So starboard shifting issue is resolved. Now back to original, never ending port side RPM issue :(
