Other way around; 4 awg would be one size larger. You want 8 awg.

paboater76 wrote:Qr Bbpost ......I also got the remote panel for the pronautic, but I'm not sure I like it, I want a monitor that I can use to check and monitor my batteries while on anchor without the gen running. I think the promariner needs AC power for the remote to work, is that correct? this is why I'm leaning on returning it and going with a Victron BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor.....

The ProNautic remote panel is for monitoring the charger function only and will only work while you have AC power, it is not for monitoring batteries conditions such as remaining capacity and other features, etc. For that you'd need something like the Victron battery monitor. They each have their specific function.

Most chargers use ATO fuses internally to protect their output circuits. If you're going that route, get the water proof ATO holder such as this:

You can also use these from Blue Sea, they're pricier but a very good system: https://www.bluesea.com/products/5191/MRBF_Terminal_Fuse_Block_-_30_to_300A

haha yeah 8awg not 4 for the chassis ground. Brain fart. I'll have questions and pictures on where to connect the chassis ground later.

Yeah wife onboard. but i'm the one who cant take the humid nights and sleep, but we try not to sleep while on gen power. I do have several Co2 detectors but it still worries me. If it is that nasty out, I'm headed for the dock lol

Would this fuse holder be ok?

http://www.bestboatwire.com/maxi-fuse-i ... -up-to-60a

Yeah, I ordered the Vic with bluetooth, I might keep the Pronautic remote too it was only 75 bucks as it is designed to interface

Thank you all very much!

That holder will work fine. The one I posted is a better unit as it's sealed from the elements and if you're worried about ignition protection, it's a better option too.

Thanks Viper, Only reason I posted the one I did, is that I cannot find the style you linked to in a 6awg lead? I would like to go with the terminal fuse blocks but I have clearance issue. Does Marico make a 6awg one? Or can you like to another brand.

Thanks

I think you're going to find it a challenge to get an in-line holder for 60 amps. Actually, check but I think with that amperage you may need to move up to a Maxi fuse rather than ATO, and even then you may not be able to find an in-line with that size wire. There are kinds that will mount on a surface with contacts for you to hook up your wires to. I wouldn't stress too much about the sealed holder. Would be nice but if you can't find it then I wouldn't worry about it.

For those with the Trojan's and the Vic monitor, what are you setting you charged voltage too?
