My tank is setup and works exactly the way Carver describes. I have an older 3607.

One concern with moving the input to the top: You may end up having the 1 1/2" tube take a dip when going up to the top of the tank. That could or will cause flow issues. It will function similar to a water trap under a sink. If it's at the bottom of the tank, that is likely the lowest place in the flow, so all the water will dump into the tank. The only restriction will be if the vent can't exhaust air fast enough, which is usually not an issue.

If you have a dip in the fill tube, you'll likely end up with stagnant water there, or water sitting there that you'll have to figure out how to get out if you ever need to winterize.

i agree with KM. If it's doable, you want the fill hose to be going downhill from the deck fitting to the tank with no dips in it so you don't have standing water in the line. Depends on how Carver ran the line. You may be able to reroute, you'll have to check.
