Marty, I really doubt its the weight.
I have a marina neighbor with the same boat, same year, and same power. He always runs full fuel and water and usually a crew of 8. He pulls two tubes behind the thing without issue. Last year he had the same problem. We found one of the engines had a fuel pump that wasn't delivering the proper pressure. The other couldn't compensate. New pump and regulator, back to pulling tubes and top speed of 35mph. The little thing moves along!

Seriously 35MPH? Greatest Ive seen is 25MPH. I will have to consider the fuel issue as a potential as well I guess. How on earth do you identify a bad fuel pump. I would normally just start a work order if I knew this to be fact, but I'm anticipating a large bill for the time they have already put in to tell me nothing...... I have 5.7 350 Mercs BTW

There are pressure test ports for the fuel. You need to test at idle and while running under load.

BTW, my 355 cruises at 24-25 and will do 31. Your boat should go much faster than mine.

I've owned the boat since summer of 18' and max speed I've seen with a 5 footer pushing me is 25MPH (w/o 18-20). I think I need to hire an outside specialist/marine mechanic to bring my vessel up to speed (no pun intended).

That is quite possible but who.....may I ask were you happy with your boats performance previous and are you back to that now.

I believe you can get into a very expensive cycle here trying to attain max performance that you never really use.....

To add, this is just my opinion, of course it is always up to you how to proceed, there may be other views that make more sense than mine. Good luck with it going forward....tall ships this weekend..... :-D

I was happy with the performance until my last trip in last year when my RPM's were limited at 3100-3200. Was still ok with this, but it has progressively gotten worse and last weekend I couldn't get above 2900 RPM's or 15 MPH. I don't plan to rip around on plane all the time, however i want to have the ability to utilize some power should I need it due to weather/seas.

Weight may be a bit of factor, but seeing as how performance is getting progressively worse it has to be fuel/air related I'm thinking....

Yup , you may be stuck going thru your equipment considering its getting worse.

Marty if you find a good mechanic, I would be very interested to know.
