Bud - thanks for twisting that knife in me this morning. One thing this Packers team has shown, when they are good, they are very good. But when they are bad, they are really, really bad. Good news is: they play the Giants on Sunday, so at least there is a chance for redemption. Had some c-tails on CBTL yesterday. Now it is time to focus on getting gutters cleaned out and start prepping for Thanksgiving Thursday & the fam visit. Turkey breast stuffed with spinach, Norwegian meatballs, and one big turkey leg for the one son that enjoys them. Creamy mashed potatoes, and green bean bake. Final course, fresh pumpkin pie topped liberally with whipped cream. Then nap time. er

While the Packers were beating the Giants, we were having our first actual winter storm in Green Bay. 8" of snow locally, 17" at Washington Island 75 miles north, and 23" in Escanaba MI, 100 miles north. 35 - 45MPH wind, and 8 to 12 ft waves on the bay of Green Bay. Yikes - still too early. This was in addition to the 10" we received over several small storms in the last 20 days. I am seeing a forecast by the Army Corp of Eng., as well as NOAA, that water levels will increase by a foot in Spring. That means we will have a lot of docks and marinas under water for early 2020. A friend sent me a picture of my slip with water level at same height as the dock. Will need to step up to the swim platform, if I could get fenders to hold hull away from submerged dock. Gonna be a strange year if the forecasts come to fruition. er

Were you a bit nervous there, waiting for the fourth 1/4 ?... For me all is well so far, the boat has survived all the wind storms etc well...and we now have almost exactly 30 days to Florida... ...

The almost submerged dock can be a real source of damage....around here lately we have been getting tidal like swings in water level, something like 3' in a matter of hours with the wind shifts and the static levels are hanging in there quite well.

Next year will be interesting for sure. I have seen forecasts for Lake Erie next year with water levels anywhere from 1" to 11" higher than 2019. As it was my dock was under water most of May, all of June and a part of July. 1" higher means that I will be underwater again but 11" higher means most likely my dock will remain submerged all season.

As a boater I like the higher water levels but sometimes higher can be to high. What awaits us in 2020. Time will tell.

Well, one more week and the days start getting longer.. ...then the count is on.

Last year it was Dec. 5th....this year the first ice fisher people were spotted today. This year, it is a few weeks later, still no huts yet. Lots more snow on the way apparently, no worries.

Well , now it is the first day that the daylight hours start getting longer...about 1.5 to 2 minutes each day for Jan and Feb. Some ice huts now but only temp ones so far.....big difference from last year at this time.
