Re: Ontario new regulations of camping on water.
Meeting just ended. Not law at this time, and, It looks like all the proposed amendments are going to be shot down. The presenters had no clue about boating and had no data to support any claims. People keep asking where did all this come from and they had no idea. We can all relax at this time.

Thanks for the update Pep, glad to hear it was some kind of joke, sure sounded like one the way it was worded.

Update from some great people on the topic who also attended the meeting.....
"Hi everyone, and thanks for your concern and participation. I've set up a Facebook group so we can keep up with what's happening, and left everyone's email in the clear here for individual communications.
Here's the Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/579501337544991 - and thanks to Susanne F for the photo. So representative of our boating lifestyle."

Re: Ontario new regulations of camping on water.
Thanks Pep for following up.....that article/blog Anchoring rights in the Wild Great lakes is quite enlightening to some of the original concerns. Seems there were already rules in place that someone decided to expand upon. It certainly would be something to find out who is pushing this position or higher and why, but I get the concerns.
Having regularly boated and anchored in many of the places that have been singled out, we payed to anchor and moor, they even had garbage collection years back. But it is quite obvious how this could escalate IMO. There are always different sides to these issues to consider.

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: Ontario new regulations of camping on water.
Looks like amendments coming so it's not so broad. They're targeting the more permanent setups, recreational boaters don't apply. Having said that, if you spend any time on the hook in some of these bays surrounded by cottages, I would keep a copy of the new proposal on board so you can show complaining cottagers the proposed changes excluding boaters when they approach your boat and site the original 300 meter rule. I'm pretty sure they'll still try to wave that in your face.
