Also, if you have an IR thermometer you can measure the temp of the discharging water and also the local water temperature to see what the rise in temp is. If you then measure the water flow, you have a pretty good measurement of how many BTUs the unit is actually processing.

Midea 8,000 BTU ASHRAE (5,300 BTU SACC) Portable Air Conditioner.
The manual says the water will fill the container and must be drained. I didn't realize that this was a "feature" of this unit when I ordered it.
A reviewer said that the water tank filled up within about 4 hours of operation.

Wow.. I'm surprised they still make them without the "evaporative" feature. Wonder if they have to pay to license that "technology"? I know some folks used to set them up so the drain could be run into a sink and then directly overboard. You might also be able to run a hose down to your shower sump.

Well that's good... ~35 degree difference is pretty normal, but can vary with fan speed.

dtcom.....It seems your AC unit is working as good as it can IMO....It just can't deal with all the radiant heat generated inside.
Later models of that boat came with two AC systems installed if they were being shipped to warmer spots. The one we had only had one but it was shipped to Canada....I will say though that all the wiring / mounting etc was in place , just not the unit itself. I can also say we also had trouble when it was 90+ and humid.

Thanks. That is my take. Hopefully the portable AC unit will pick up the slack, and I can turn it on remotely to have the boat somewhat cooler when I get to it.
