When you reinstalled the struts, was there any thing that concerned you or required special attention?

Yes. There is one stainless steel washer on the two most aft bolts on each strut. They are your standard washers, nothing special about them. They are not that thick.

Done! One big tube of 5200 black and that are back on. I bought new bolts because the other ones where caked with caulk and I had hammered them back down through. The carriage bolts fit fairly tight into the notches on the struts.

Curious about those washers, are they just on the aft two bolts between the strut and the hull ...both sides the same ?? Shims maybe ??

Correct. Both Sides are the same. I guess they are shims. I put them back where they came from when I reinstalled them. They are a size or two larger then the 3/8 bronze carriage bolts that hold the struts on. They are thin, kind of the thickness of a fender washer.

Maybe, to eliminate the cutless bearing issue, squirt some dish soap in the cutless bearings, and see if you get less resistance. Then you rule that out. Then work back to the packless seals, finally to the trans. Not all props turn easily, but for different reasons.
