Re: Carver 350 engine meter
Den, the switch on the back of the tach is the setting for # of cylinders the tach is monitoring. If your tach is running accurately, turning the dial back and forth will not have any impact on sync meter. If your tach is bouncing at all, then yes, it may help remedy. Additionally, if your tach is bouncing, then you may have a completely different issue. Is the tach accurate and steady? Are we having fun yet?

Re: Carver 350 engine meter
Ok sorry it’s been so long for updates, but had other items that were more urgent to address.
I may look into replacing the synch module this winter and see if that corrects the engine hour riddle.
Here is a reminder of the problem.
Both engines run identical hours, confirmed with fill-ups and more importantly reading from engines with diagnostic tool.
While cruising with RPM’s same on both engines my synch gauge will randomly bounce all over. It typically will show 100% port engine. When this happens my starboard engine meter does not clock any increase. As soon as the synch guage shows ANY movement towards starboard I hear the meter clicking minutes.
If the guage shows 100% starboard, the Port meter then shows no time increase on the port.
So tachs work, and engine hour meters work as long as synch guage is not pegged to one engine or the other.
Hopefully someone else had the same issue or has any ideas other than the engine synch module.

Re: Carver 350 engine meter
The two systems should have no influence on each other as they should be isolated but who knows what a previous owner may have done. They may share a common ground though so check all your connections. Take a look and see where your hour meters are hooked up to, try to duplicate the problem and when it happens, take a voltage reading there and see if there is a drop.
