Renovatio - do you want to hazard a guess? Although I did not get that confirmation from Carver, I am going to do the big reveal today. The resource I am using is the guy who was working on the technician group at that time, and eventually was in charge of that dept for years. He is sure of it, but we both hoped Carver would confirm. There are way too many people losing sleep over this, so I will reveal this afternoon. er

That really looks like the end of a prop shaft. Spare shaft? Odd place to put it though.

Viper is the second entry with "Spare shaft?" So, which ever entry is first to arrive to claim their prize, the fabulous slightly used Jimmy Buffet marg. serving blender glass thingy, will be the winner. Carver had an option of spare props and spare shaft in a few models. That was the storage for the shaft on a few hulls, but then that storage was changed to a hanger style storage to minimize hole drilling. Now then, if one considers that shaft has been sitting in there for a looonng time, it may not come out real easy. Mike could not remember what the shaft actually slid into, so there may be a sleeve restricting easy removal. I told him about the 4" tube, and he said there may be a foam sleeve to eliminate vibration issues. If any water has invaded the space, the foam could be compromised. Having said that, you may come across an extra pair of props will burrowing through the vessel. Good luck!!! I thought it was the flux capacitor connecting rod, but no. er

Don't know that I like where it's stored but I guess the location is dictated by the shaft's length and available space to accommodate it.
