She's taking shape

I had a productive week/weekend, the boat is back together, hard tops on and the helm is installed. The weather turn cold again, so I got to start tackling some inside projects. First on the list was to get the Salon air conditioner installed. The PO started the install so I didn’t know exactly what the original setup was. I cleaned everything up and routed everything so it made the best sense to me. I think the install came out good. I won’t be able to test until it is in the water, but I don’t think I will have any issues.

After the air conditioner I went on to replacing the hot water heater. Another project the PO started but didn’t get very far on. I finished disconnecting the hoses, and electrical connections. I removed the screws holding the front mount and then realized it was mounted in the rear also. UGH!. So I removed the vacuum pump for the heads, squeezed down inside and was able to get reach the to in the rear. Once I got the heater in position to come out I soon realized that Carver conveniently started the angle 3 inchs to soon, so I had to notch the flange enough to allow the heater to come out. After a quick vacuuming and repainting of the floor I tried fitting 8n the replacement heater in. The new one was a 1/4 inch wider and the mounting flanges where no on the sides instead of the front and back. So I had to trim the flange some and cut two notch’s to allow the mounting flanges through. Once I did that everything else went in pretty easy. I reinstalled the vacuum pump and mounted the heater. I want to get new fitting for the lines. I thought they were pet connections but they are smaller.

Great set of posts to follow. You obviously have some previous experience with re-doing boats. Thanks for taking the time to allow us to follow the re-hab.

Are you using a crane or what to move the fly bridge etc? Is the helm station removed? You are making quick progress!

We where actually able to put the hardtop and arch back on with the travel lift, the marinas large forklift was inaccessible at the time. We had only a few inchs to spare, but got it back on. This is the first boat I have ever redone so I am learning along the way. I have built several custom cars and have always self taught myself. I have completed several other projects done on the boat and will be updating the post soon.

Coming along very well, you are gonna love that MarinAire unit, great choice.

It’s been tough to keep up on the post as my business is in full swing right now and I’ve been working in the boat every waking moment it seems. So here is a quick update. I have new LED lights installed through the boat, got the batteries in, got all the bilges cleaned and new pumps and electronic switches installed, replaced the 2 shower sumps, drained the fuel from the 2 main tanks, still need to do the aux tank. Replaced the VHF antenna, rewelded the broken table leg. Removed ,cleaned and dyed the fly bridge Seats. Had a new window cover made for the salon windows. Stripped the waterline stripes and stripped, sanded, and painted the running gear with Prop Glide. Changed the fuel filters, impellers on engines and generators. I’m sure there is more but that is what I can remember right now.
