Re: Strange situation
The thing for me , both engines are the same and are both checking out with an IR gun as being fine, so they pick up 10 degrees under load ( seems normal ). If it is the salt issue, then put lower temp thermostats in or clean the cooling systems if the concern is the temp rise creating a salt drop out issue with the higher temp...(excessive temp rise is usually a symptom of poor heat exchange)......but what to believe the temp gun on the engines or the dash gauges ?
Tough to figure remotely......

You all think it’s time to inspect risers and manifolds?

Re: Strange situation
Is that the reading on your gauges or a true reading taken at the engine? That makes a big difference. You have to confirm the actual temps at the engine and not rely solely on what the gauges are telling you. If the reading at the engine matches the high temp reading at your gauge, then you can assume there is indeed an overheat issue at the engine and go from there. My impression from your first post though was that the readings at the helm and at the engine differed by quite a bit but that the temp at the engine itself was normal. If that's the case, your cooling system is working fine.AlexB wrote:Source of the post I went out just and going 3800 rpm the temp started to over 190.

Re: Strange situation
Forgot my IR gun at home. Temp senders will be changed this week and I will do another sea trial.

Re: Strange situation
They are saying it could be either wire or gauges. So I bought new gauges but didn’t realize they 8 pin. Is there any way to convert to 8 pin or I should get a different gauge?

Re: Strange situation
@ viper I am trying to change things one at a time. So far nothing is helping. What approach do you suggest?
