Thanks for the reply. After posting, I determined the activation link offered was not related to the Carver Owners Group and unsuccessfully tried to take my inquiry down.

Hi,
I am CudaMike
I have a 2002 Carver 506.
Do not know how this forum works. I have some general questios as I try to navigate this forum.
Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Here are questions I would have.
A. My Yacht seems to be in Limp Mode, Volvo Penta D12-675 engines. One of the cockpit EVC displays not working. Having a hard time locating one, this one is the only one I have seen with a blue rectangular 10 pin connector. Cannot find one to match.
B. Where would I find a service manual?
Thanks for any help.

Greetings to all Carver Owners everywhere! Carey and I are the new owners of a Carver 370 Voyager. She came with the name "4 Play" and although that might be whimsical and considered a bit "naughty" by some, we will be changing her name for reasons of a more personal nature. A very dear friend who named his first sailboat Four Play is in hospice and the memories are just too painful. So she is likely to be renamed "Lost the Plot" as that is what some of our friends think; at our age, what are you thinking. Well what we are thinking is that if you don't have challenges and adventures you may as well buy the box we'll end up in. So, that's who we are. This boat is in excellent mechanical condition and the interior and exterior are in good condition however like all boats of her vintage (1995) she needs a bit of sprucing up. There is a exterior channel that runs between the flybridge floor and the cabin top. In that channel is a gasket that I would guess is a closed cell plastic/foam. It measures 1 1/8" X 5/8" - flat on the top and rounded on the bottom. We are having a dickens of a time locating this gasket and although we think we have a part number from the original owners manual, that is not guaranteed. Does anyone have any ideas on where one might obtain a replacement? The existing one has shrunk and is deteriorating.

Hello, I'm a new member.
I'm entertaining the purchase of a 1990 Montego 3157.
There doesn't seem to be very many out there.
This boat has inboard engines with borg warner v-drives.
I have not owned an inboard boat in many, many years, so I'm unsure as to how the hydraulic steering should "feel". When turning the steering wheel it feels somewhat like a ratchet socket wrench, Is this normal ? The survey done by a reputable (ABYC Certified) surveyor, does not mention any isues with the steering.
Where on this forum would be the place to ask about this ?

Welcome aboard.
I would post the question under “General Repairs…” NO steering should feel like you’re describing. If it’s a true hydraulic system, check the fluid level in the helm that the steering wheel is mounted to. That’s the system’s pump. Low oil can cause a jumpy feel when turning.

I hesitate to open a new topic, but, I can't find anything that has to do with the model Montego 3157 on this forum. As far as I can tell, they were only built in 1990.
Please point me in the right direction if I'm mistaken.
It seems the 3157 was the runt of the family, the 3257 a more popular model.
I do understand the 3257 is a foot and half broader. Are they totally different boats ?
For instance, would windlass wiring to the bow run similar routes in the two models ?
Is there a spot in the forum where files are stored that members have contibuted ? Things like brochures manuals and schematics ?
