The battery was originally mounted between the genny and the port fuel tank. Very difficult to access.
I pulled the battery for now and over the winter will be mounting it aft of the port engine.

Once you cut the marine grade plywood out to fit, and drill all the holes to mount it, cover the entire things with resion and glass. It will make it stronger and will last way longer.

Can I ask - how much did the rebuilt genny cost? Did they say what it would cost with a core. Been thinking of renewing mine. Where did you obtain it?

Fred, thanks for getting in there and taking these for me. I really appreciate it. I have my plywood, gen and muffler, now sourcing tank, hoses, battery and misc bits.

Question: You mentioned that the gen batt was in a terrible location. If you were installing from the beginning (like me) what would you change to make it more accessible?

I'm putting mine aft of the port engine.
It looks tough to get to but once you bend over it's very accessible.

Floor removed from my 3697 over the weekend. Amazing how much access it provides, there are several projects that I plan to complete while this is opened up for generator install:

Generator placed but not yet mounted or wired. This was a pretty big task involving the use of the back hoe at the Marina. Well worth the $200 that they charged as there was only a few inches of clearance on each side during "installation".

Generator and new tank plumbed and final installed. Wound up having to redo the cockpit floor drains due to interference and while I was at it added two new drains in the forward corners as water tended to settle here while in dock.

And here we are "We'll Sea" this past weekend out on the hook with friends enjoying the generator for the first time. This made all of the work worth the effort, it was great to have the AC on while out in the 96 degree heat!

Your genset install looks very nice!!!

Curious... are those engines 350HP Crusader 454's? If so, what are the exhaust mufflers that are on there? Can you take a pic of the label on the one? Do they work effectively?

I'll see what I can get off of them for you, they work pretty well, still pretty loud though.
