Does anyone know how many qt of oil does a crusader 454 hold? Or should I keep pouring it in and look at the dip stick?

It would be typically about 5 or 6. Check the dipstick after you've run it, especially if you've replaced the oil filter.

If you are unsure, you can start with four and run it for a few minutes and then check the dipstick and start filling from there to get to "full". Don't overfill. Much better to be slightly under full than any over full, as long as you're above the "add oil" mark.

my 1998 merc 454's take seven quarts when changing oil and filter.
As mentioned, I would put at least 5 in, run for a minute and check the dipstick. Sometimes you don't get all the old oil out if your siphon tube isn't in just right.
