It is 50a on each leg therefor 100a total, 50a line 1 and 50a line 2. Same setup as my boat. Single 50a, 6 gauge, 4 wire shore power cord is all that is required. Never had to do any kind of power management on Midnight Sun yet. Tons of juice available, many small older homes have 100a electrical panels.

To clarify, 4 conductor power cord is used for a dual voltage system (125/250V) otherwise it'll be a 3 conductor cable which I suspect is the case in this particular application. My set up is the same; twin 50A cords, 125V. Line 2 is dedicated to the 3 air conditioning units and their raw water pump.

Man thats more than enough, wow....we had a house that had only a 60 amp service....

Yes, I have two 50a 125v sockets on the boat, but the shore power socket is 125/250v so I have a single 50A 125/250v shore power cable that goes to a Y splitter at the boat (50A 125v to each socket on the boat).

I had an older house one time. It had 60 amp service on 7 circuits. When I got done rewiring it there was 27 circuits and 150 amp service. World of difference. Never really had any issues with the old knob and tube wiring and 60 amp service but wanted to upgrade.

Not to stray too far off the thread, but my sister lived in a house also with knob-and-tube, but it was "protected" by two 15 amp glass fuses... wired in series! (that was the whole house)

Can you actually get 100amp service in a marina around here ? Sorry to sound so amazed, but I have never had a boat with more than 2x30amp and even that was difficult.

I don't mind the diversion - it does highlight how crazy high 100a is on a boat.

I believe all of the pedestals at the PCYC have 2x30a receptacles, and I believe they install the 50a receptacles on request, but this one was already installed. They also install GFCI breakers, which is the right thing to do but did cost me some money when I first moved it here to troubleshoot.

The boat was berthed at Trent port marina before and IIRC it had dual 30a as well. The boat runs fine on two 30a except I have an issue with inrush current of the u-line ice maker. For being designed to be on a boat, the inrush is quite high. I haven't measured but it does make the analog ammeter jump!

The triplex AWG 6 is here so should be further progress on the inverter install shortly!
