Ahoy Mates!
New member here. Just brought my "new" Riviera from Mamaroneck NY to it's new home port of Lloyd Harbor NY today. Love the boat and it's been very well maintained and ran great. One of the front vent windows was (intentionally) sealed shut. I want to restore it to operate so here's my question...
Has anyone ever retrofit a locking rod or something similar to make it easier top open and close? I had a 35 foot CHB Trawler that had this kind of mechanism on the center front window, You would unset the knob and push the rod forward top open the bottom of the window and reset the knob to hold it open. Seems the vent windows are pretty hard to reach otherwise.
Any other tips/tricks from Riveiera 28 owners?
Cheers!
Tom

Our first boat was a Riviera, great boat!
Ours had a mechanism I think you described.
Maybe somebody removed yours or it didn't become a standard item until later years? Ours was a 1988.

Welcome to the forum and Carver......the old Trojans had a winding type device, some Chriscraft as well, maybe a boat salvage yard and you get all the bits to fab one up, good luck with it, I always liked that model.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Thanks Guys,
Another Newb question...
Are the bilge pumps wired directly to the battery from the factory? The boat has all the factory panel and dash switches.
Q - When the main panel is totally off, and the battery switch is set to off, with the dash switches set to "automatic" will the bilge pumps run?
Thanks,
Tom

In theory yes the pumps will run however it's always best to check for yourself as there is no telling what a previous owner/s may have done over the years. For this reason, you shouldn't assume anything, rather you should confirm that a system is operating or hooked up the way it should be by recommended standards just in case. Best be safe than sorry.
