BS Money grab
This is so sad, cannot believe we need to renew our boaters license every 5 years now in Canada with a fee attached. In the end, it seems like all they are looking for is address changes that might have occurred not to mention money.

Re: BS Money grab
Not surprising that they're adding a fee, but I'd be more pissed about the "increase in price annually based on inflation" part, as they're just automatically adding costs without any real justification.
I also wonder are the funds from these fees strictly going to just maritime-related efforts or do they just go into a "general fund"?

Re: BS Money grab
Yup, I think they are cleaning things up...lots of folk out there that have not registered into their name and also not paid the taxes due at purchase time.
Still a bit of a mess though, just spent the last 3 months getting a boat registered due to their clerical/transcribing errors etc, no follow thru, finally completed but had to make phone calls to get it done.
If boating near international water borders better have all ducks in a row nowadays.

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: BS Money grab
I hope they don't pull that crap in NJ. The Motor Vehicle Commision is no fun ti deal with. The only good thing they've done was to put everthing in one place on my lincese, Autombile, Motorcycle, and boat. However, they hav'nt educated the police what to look for on the lincese. After being tailgated for a mile on my motorcycle I was stopped by a cop and given a ticket for driving without a lincense. He didn't know what "end M" was, which means "endorsements Motorcycle". But it also says "BOAT"

Re: BS Money grab
I think this is the real reason. They are looking at ways to collect on their tax which is BS anyway. Used anything should be tax free IMO. We are already taxed to death in this country for sub par services.
