Well I tried my first carb overhaul this weekend. The starboard endine was running very rich and was running uneven...not a consistent miss, but just uneven. The plugs were dry, black and sooty (rich condition). At idle I could see fuel at a steady and heavy drip in the carb... I thought maybe needle and seat, but it turned out to be a stuck open power valve. It was dumping fuel all the time. I bought a kit and tried my first overhaul, which scared me. I soaked everything overnight, cleaned, checked and double checked everything. Now she runs perfect. I just need to change the plugs.
