Hello everyone, I have an opportunity to buy a 1991 carver Montego 525. It has some mechanical issues but that's of no concern to me. Has a 5.7 Merc that most likely needs a rebuild. I am totally new to the boating world and this would be my first boat purchase should I pursue it.

Wondering if anyone out there has had one of these models and pros/cons to owning this model. Been having a hard time finding info on this one. Also what other areas would be a common concern when inspecting it?

Hi all. We own a 97' 355 AC and over the past three years we've redone the interior decorations to something current. When we bought the boat we came into possesion of the origianl bedding comforters fitted for the aft cabin and forward berth as well as curtains etc. The bedding is brand new and never used. Today I found a space under the forward berth to hold the two batteries for the Sideshifter. Only a 4’ cable run. I am going to use one of the storage drawers below the berth to house the solenoid, switch, etc. I have used a piece of AZEK mounted to the inside of teh draw unit, and have it sitting on teh chine. I also took a piece of AZEK and cut it at a 30 degree angle. I am going to 5200 it to the interior of the hull for safe keeping. Also, got the control mounted on the helm as well. Pretty ...

Saw diesel on the street today for $2.59 a litre CDN. That is $7.63 a gallon US. My oh my is all I can say. Looks like I will be venturing over to the US side this summer for fuel as I assume it will be a bit better over there.

How often are you guys generally doing a full tune up? Not just changing the oil and fuel filters? Impellers, spark plugs, distributors, etc? Thanks

Just bought a 2004 Carver 460 with a hardtop. I’m going to remove the radar from the top and lower everything else down for maximum bridge clearance. I need to know what the height of the hard top base is. We have a fixed bridge coming into our marina is 18 to 22 varying on the tide My neighbor has a 450 with the radar removed that goes under it all the time. Our 26/28 is equipped with the Volvo Penta AD31b engines (130Hp diesel) with DP290 sterndrives and I've been working on them for a while now. Gathered some information and experience but never asked here if there are other owners of this (or similar, period 1988-1994 or so) VP diesels?
