Post Control Knob - What does it do?
- Posted by: sailtosteam » April 30th, 2017, 9:43 pm
- Forum: General Boating Discussion
Hello everyone,
I have a new to me 1997 405. In the aft cabin next to the A/C controls there is a black knob. About 1 1/2" in dia. It can be rotated, but I am not sure what it does or why it is there. It is connected to a black box in the master closet.
Any ideas what this knob is for and how to use it?
Thanks for your help.
Jim

Post Carver 355 rear platform access
- Posted by: Elliott » April 30th, 2017, 8:21 pm
- Forum: Carver Yachts Forum - Model Discussion
I have written and asked about access to the after section of the platform since I joined this group a year ago after I bought my newer boat.
This all had to do with mounting my Surfjet on the rear, as well as how to reinforce davits etc.
To summarize, I spent 3-4 hours last year by reaching through the access port on starboard, to line up 4 nuts on bolts that were about 25" inside the platform. I used an extension piece of wood with brackets bolted onto my socket wrench so that I would not lose ...

Post New Owners of a 1988 Carver 3807 named Yachtsea
- Posted by: pendavmas » April 29th, 2017, 3:30 pm
- Forum: Introduce Yourself!
Hi, all! We bought a 1988 Carver 3807 last fall (2016). We plan to retire on it in a few years. It has been very well taken care of over the years & we are very happy to have her. We are based in Brewerton, NY right now on beautiful Oneida Lake. The Erie Canal is close to our marina. We plan to do some traveling along it this summer as there are no lock fees to celebrate the Bicentennial of the start of construction of the Canal.
There is another Carver 3807 in the marina so we have made some ...

Post Heat exchanger end covers
- Posted by: Ondercin » April 29th, 2017, 10:09 am
- Forum: Gas Engines/Transmissions
So last year while putting the boat away I'd noticed a small crack in the cover plate of my heat exchanger (oem part number 44446)
I put the boat in the water yesterday and fired my engines up and noticed a small drip from the end cap. After removing the end cap and getting it home it actually broke in half..
I've been searching the web for a directly replacement of the end cap without having to replace my current heat exchanger.
I've found several on the web but because rubber gasket has a groove ...

Post Electronics question

I have the new Ray e97 and e127 networked together. I am having issues trying to connect to wifi for updates. At my marina and others, I gate an error massage saying that "the ip adresss of 10.0.0.010at this source conflicts with the ip address of your Ray Marine network. Contact your system administrator". I have tried connecting with the cell phone as a hot spot but just get the same reply of "cannont connect". I took the displays home and they wouldn't connect here either. Any help?

Post Getting glue from shrink tape of window and boat
- Posted by: Paradise II » April 29th, 2017, 7:20 am
- Forum: General Repairs & Maintenance
I have a 85 Mariner 36 and I have had it in the lot for 7 weeks getting the bottom painted. Because of some leaking around the windows we used some heat shrink tape. The tape took care of the leaking but after taking it off, I have the glue residue left and have found nothing that will get it off. It is on the boat and the aluminum window frame. Any suggestions to getting it off without hurting the windows or the gel coat. Thank you

Post Water in forward and mid bilge
- Posted by: dsolo » April 28th, 2017, 7:51 am
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
There is water accumulated in both forward and mid bilge. Both areas have had bilge pumps activated. There is no water in other areas of the bilge. Only between the two hull beams. I am sorry to say I noticed the bilge ran this past fall, I bought the boat in October, shortly after that the boat went to heated storage. The survey did not disclose any hull defects or damage. I had to bail afew inches from the mid bilge that was left from the fall. This should have been addressed over the winter. ...

Happy days. The shrink wrap came our boat today. All is well in our world.. well almost.
One of the Carver's less that inspirational features of our model is that padded skirt around the aft of the cockpit. Something that was replaced by a SS rail in later years. Cleaning it, drying it, protecting it for another season over and over again and it still looks like crap every time we get back to the boat. The admiral and I have had enough of it. I am thinking about removing it and replacing i ...

Post AC Coil Flushing
- Posted by: DanM » April 27th, 2017, 7:21 pm
- Forum: AC/Heat, Plumbing & Sanitation
Has anyone flushed their AC coils? I am planning to attempt it this spring and would like to hear from others with experience. This is a freshwater boat but I'm told that minerals/sediment build in the coils impeding performance of the units. There are a number of options in terms of connectivity and chemicals used so any input would be appreciated.

Post Raymarine es78 with Quantum Radome installed one winter.
- Posted by: dsolo » April 26th, 2017, 5:51 pm
- Forum: Electronics & Navigation
Per the subject line I installed the es78 with Quantum Radome and thruhull downward flir sonar transducer. Connected the radar via WiFi, everything good. Will test Radome position once out in Lake. Sonar is good at 7 feet of water. Again will test on the water and graphs from gps charts. es78 comes with Navionics installed. Have used them for 15 years, they are great!
I have the Raytheon 650 auto pilot. I purchased the seatalk to seatalkng converter. Connected the m both to the converter and turn ...
