Just a small note about soft goods on Carver boats/ yachts (curtains, canvas, upholstery, carpet, etc). Carver has always made these items in house. They never subcontracted these items out. The only exceptions would be inner spring mattresses (not foam ones) and Flexsteel furniture. All wood items, railings and plexiglass/ starboard items are also made in house. Does anyone know where I can get a 1987 Mariner exhaust flapper?

Last August I purchased my Carver. It is an 81 with some old electronics. The marine VHF radio transmits but does not receive. I think the speaker is shot so I will be purchasing a new VHF when I launch next month. The GPS worked my first time out and it worked good. When I next came aboard the unit would not turn on. I called Garmin gave them the model number. They said the unit is so old they no longer have any parts to repair it. They said it is a unit from the 80's.

I will be installing an Aluminum standpipe davit on the hardtop of the aft deck on my Carver 445 shortly. I intend to lift a West Marine RIB ( 130 lbs ) along with a Mercury 6 hp ( 60 lbs ). I plan to use a 12v winch with 2000 pulling/600 lbs lifting capability. Any advice/wisdom would be gratefully received.

I have a Raymarine C80 MFD, SmartPilot SPX course computer, and an ST70 AutoPilot Controller.

Problem:
After I create a route with the MFD and start to follow that route I want the Autopilot to join the party. According to the manual for the Autopilot we set the autopilot on "Auto" and the MFD following a route. When this is all happening the next waypoint becomes visible on the autopilot screen. On our 79 Carver 3326, we have dual stations, flybridge and salon controls, with twin 270 Crusaders. When we purchased the boat last year, I had intermittent issues with the ignition system not wanting to work both on startup and shut down.
