Post Add Circuit for Aft Deck Lights

I’d like to add more lights but a different color to the Aft Deck overhead lights. The current switch operates two overhead lights. I’d like to change the switch to a SPDT but can’t figure out how to route the wire from switch to lights? The current switch is starboard of the salon access doors (picture attached).

Post 2006 Carver 42 SS access to holding tank sensor

Hello Everyone!

We purchased a 2006 Carver 42 Super Sport in September and so far we love the boat!

It appears the holding tank sensor is not working correctly. It always shows 3/4 full even after a pump out. It's the fireboy gauge type system.

I know the tank is empty after a pump out because I can see there is nothing in the tank when I look at it from the stairs area.

I've searched everywhere online and can't find a thread that talks about or shows how to access the holding tank gauge on our n ...

Post AutoPilot and steering ram

Hello,

I am the owner of a Carver 570 Voyager. However, recently I have encountered a problem with the autopilot system. Whenever I engage it, instead of keeping me on a steady course, it seems to be sending me in circles. Given its age and the fact that the remote is completely destroyed, I believe it is time for a complete overhaul.

I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a reliable replacement system? After doing some research, I've been eyeing the Raymarine EV systems. Additionally ...

Post Shore Power Failure Alert

Came across this and thought I would share. Kinda nice to know if there is a power failure or someone has unplugged your shore power. Obviously one needs to have wifi on the boat for this to work. Only drawback is every time you disconnect from shore power to head out, you will get an alert however I think we all can figure out it is valid but does not affect you. ;-) No monthly fees. https://www.amazon.ca/Power-Failure-Det ... Post Master Shower Sump (405 Aft Cabin)

While looking around in the master stateroom floor compartments I noticed the shower sump is mounted on a platform but still sloped along the dead rise angle. Which leaves water standing in the sump. I realize the pump won’t get 100% of the water out,but there’s quite a bit left. In the picture you can see there’s probably 2+ inches in the bottom left and about 1/2” in the top right. If leveled there would probably be 1/2” left after the pump stopped. Have any of you shimmed the sump so it’s le ...

Post Sealant to seal rubber /neoprene boot to au

Season 2 for my Side Shft bow thruster. It is by far the best improvement I ever installed. Customer service is the ost paramount I have ever encountered. I replaced a couple of bands this weekend. WHen I did, it appears the cables loosened up where they connected to the thruster. To tighten, I had to pry the neoprene boots (There is one on top of another. off of the thruster motor to get a wrench on the nuts. Side Shift has been so gracious to me. Cant say enough great about the company. Anyway ...

Post Vacuflush over the winter

Hey Folks.
When you store for the winter season, do you maintain the vacuum on the unit or 'flush' and release the pressure?
Any reasons behind your thinking?
Thanks

Post Kohler 7.5R crank, but no start

Kohler 7.5r. Anchored out Friday night. Took cover off grill for dinner and Venturi tube fell in river (determined this was sort of our theme for the weekend). Plan B cook chicken in skillet on stove. Ran generator for 30-45 minutes, all was perfect. Shut it down for about 30 minutes. Wife said she needed power for galley clean up. Went to start it up and it cranks great but no start. Never had any problems with the gen in the 5 years we’ve owned the boat. Eventually could get a somewhat start. ...

Post Buying Boat with Wet Swim Platform

Hi everyone, I’m new here. I’m currently under contract to buy a 1996 Carver 325 and very excited about it. The surveyor found elevated moisture levels on the swim platform in a couple of spots. This boat has the deck box, and I’ve read extensively on this site about the water intrusion issues related to the deck box fasteners. I think it’s highly likely that is the cause of the wet swim platform.

The surveyor also did percussion testing on the swim platform and it came back normal, and it still ...
