Post Battery care for the winter - 2000 396 aft cabin

My boat will be in the water this winter in Pittsburgh. It has twin V8 Mercruiser engines. There will be power to the boat.

I am looking for advice about the batteries. Do I remove them, leave them in the boat with the battery chargers on, leave them in but disconnected or some other option?

Thanks for your input.

Post '89 Santego, diesel, where are your batteries located?

The boat was re-powered in '93 with 3116 Cat engines. The batteries are located at the front and outside of the engine compartment, right under the exhaust pipes. Starboard engine I would have to remove the huge exhaust pipe to get them out plus there is no way to check water level. Port engine batteries I may be able remove with the exhaust system in place, but again, no way to check water (electrolyte) level.
Anyone with a diesel Santero, where are the batteries located?

Post 1984 Crusader 350 - Remote Fuel Filter replacement?

My Crusaders have the AC remote Fuel Filter Assemblies as described on page 7-6 of the Service Manual. Pic attached.
What the manual does not tell me is a part number to purchase the replacement filters.
I dont want to pull the cannister off to ttry to ID the filter - that will be my last option.

Hoping someone on this forum has the same engine / setup and can tell me what you filter you purchase / use to replace them

Post 1984 Crusader 350 - Spark Plug Recommendations

New to me 1984 3607 AC. Did my annual maintenance and replaced the spark plugs. Based upon recommendations I put in Champion RV12YC plugs
What I pulled out were Champion RV8C plugs - put in by PO

The RV8Cs were pretty black (of course, I have no idea how long there installed.

So, what are your recommendations?

Post WINETRIZING!

the “W” word. Last weekend we moved ashore, this weekend it was water systems and A/C winterizing. Ran the water out of the tank, then blue air through the lines, Water Heater was bypassed. I am a bit anal so after lines were blown out, I o pumped pink stuff through the lines. Added 10 gallons to the water tank and ran that through. Water heater was just blown out as lots of room for anything left to expand. A/C ….well I was tired of disconnecting hoses and trying to flush with fresh water and t ...

Post 2001 356 wash down question

IMG_1677.jpeg
HI everyone. First time poster here. I have a new to me 2001 356. On the bow (near the anchor roller), I have a wash down outlet. (See picture 1) On the aft deck, I have another wash down outlet (see picture 2). I assume that these are fresh water wash downs because the wash down pump breaker on my 12v panel is blanked (see picture 3).

When I open these outlets, I get nothing. I have left them open hoping to have air bleed out of the lines but I still get nothing. Does anyone have an ...

Post Leaking fuel tank

Leaking fuel tank repaired : Carver 4207 w/ CAT 3208s.

We repaired the starboard aluminum tank by installing an access plate near the aft end (transmission end). Gaining access and machining the side of the tank to receive the access plate took more time than repairing the leak itself. Once the access port was ready, we cleaned, patched and sealed the tank bottom on the inside – then closed the access port.

Access was awkward but do-able. The leak and the cause were obvious. Compared to other ...

Post Can anyone identify this hose ?

I found this hose under the dinette in the same compartment that has my black water holding tank for the forward head (port side).

This hose passes through the compartment and is not part of plumbing for the forward head.

This hose passes under the dinette floor and appears to go into the same compartment as the salong AC unit underneath the forward dinette seat. However, looking in the AC compartment I cannot find this hose, so I assume that it must be under the floor supporting the AC.

Following ...
