Have been looking into a whole house Generac lately.

Have one of those however it decided to crap out on me a week before this outage. Whole house 20kw fully automatic, has worked extremely well over the last several years.

Been juggling breakers, backfeeding with a 3300w portable for the last few days, got heat, the salt water aquarium is safe and the fridge and freezer are up. Power is back as of a few hours. All is good. +5 here also except my lifetime water heater exploded last night, installing a new one right now. Not my best week, that's for sure. :-D

Hats off to you Hans. Bad weather, no power, failed generator, blown water heater, and despite all that you still thought of us and continued to help our community. What a dedicated crew we have. There's better days ahead my friend :captain:

Hans , I only mentioned the generator because your ice storm outage reminded me that is something I have been putting off doing. Really need to get caught up.....good your power is back on.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.....

Weather here is UUUUGGGLLY! Snow, rain, ice, snow, lightning, thunder, ice, rain and now ice again! Not boating weather, but this SHOULD be the last gasp for Ol' man winter. Temps hit 50F on Tuesday and stay there for foreseeable future. Can start measuring launch in days instead of weeks! Would post a picture of the weather but I don't know how, and you do not want to see it. Hans' picture was much better with blue sky. 33 days, 19 hours, & 36 min to the official opening of marina. 8-) er

What a day today....18C, much nicer....got the charger install finished and running, some hoses, new waterproof housing for the Victron, some labels. WOW has the price of suction hose ever gone up... :-O Have to set charge profiles tomorrow and maybe get to installing the flush fittings, maybe...we will see if the back can contort itself two days in a row..... .. :-O

Lots of open spots on the bay now, but still lots of ice as well.
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.....

I am a happy boater today, as I did re-install my steps to bridge without hurting myself. You would think that would be easy, but the alignment of the SS tubes has to perfect in 4 spots. Now just bottom paint touch up and cleaning the rubber in the rub rail. Easy peasy. 8-) er

The ice has been gone for a bit now so that is not a problem. I haven't seen any ice coming down the Detroit River for a few days now. I plan, later today (Saturday) to take the shrinkwrap off and weather permitting launch next week. Weather forecast is calling for rain just about every day next week. I do want a dry day to launch.

After looking at the weather forecast for the upcoming week I decided not to pull off the shrinkwrap. I will try again next saturday. Supposed to rain every day this week so I am holding off. Next weekend is looking like it will be dry so I hopefully will open the boat and launch the following week. Maybe I should not predict a launch and just do it when the weather cooperates.

Well plan on unwrapping next weekend too. Get the canvas up and wipe her down. Then start buffing the hull. Hopefully they will raise the lake level in the next two weeks 2' or more so we can launch by the first of May!

Admiral and I took a drive along the Trent Severn canal around the Peterborough, Ontario area and noticed the water levels and currents to be quite high which is a good sign, must be letting the water through to manage lakes to the north.

Southern Georgian Bay still has thick ice on it, let’s hope the weather cooperates.
