And for what it is worth, silicone is useless.
Use boatlife caulk.
Before you run the caulk. Tape any surface the caulk could ooze out onto, and about sixteenth of an inch from each joint. Lay the caulk, run your finger along the bead to flatten it down, removed the tape. Looks factory when done.
In lieu of boatlife caulk, I have used sonolastic np150 white caulk.
We use it in a food plant and it resists all sorts of caustic and acidic cleaners, very quick temperature swings, stays white, and fits not have any growth form on it.
