Cutlass bearing replacement determination - 1984 Mariner 3697

Postby rictamily » January 2nd, 2023, 8:51 pm

Hi,

My prop shaft is 1 ⅜ diameter. I have the boat on blocks so wanting to do maintenance while on the hard. The props are removed and when shaking prop shafts there is movement...movement enough to make a slight clunking sound when emphasized. Is there a certain tolerance?

Also, is the process of replacement just a cutlass bearing-removing tool to remove and replace? Or are other calibration methods required?
