Prop size for a 1990 carver 430 with Cummings 300 engines

Post by Mylittlebonnie »

The rpms are running at 2100 so it was suggested that the prop sizes were biting too much which was also loading up the one engine with carbon. The engines should be run at 2400 rpms from what I've been told. So the prop company worked on the props. I asked to change the prop to allow the engines to run at 2600 not 2100 rpms. The work was completed and it is running at 2200 rpms with a loss of 1 knot. What should be the proper prop size?

I have a 1995 430 and this is what my prop specs look like according to my survey:

RUNNING GEAR
Propellers: Two Make: Michigan/Federal Material: Bronze
Blades: Four Size: 23in. diameter Pitch: 26in. Right & left hand rotation.

Not sure if right or wrong but just what previous owner had installed if that helps at all.
