Water leak in aft cabin

My aft cabin windows are oval shaped, like your bow stateroom windows. They "flip up" instead of sliding like yours. Totally different design but with the same issue.

Yep.. on the going issues with water in the aft soaking bedding stemmed for us from window seals and gummed window slider tracks. The water ingress was not seen on the surface of the liners but close examination showed water on the small window sill behind thee curtains dafter a rainstorm and on top of the freshwater tank under the aft bunk soaking the matress. We took the liner off and to our shock the foam insulation behind completely disintegrated and was full of black mould. We covered the windows with a plastic sheet taped to the inside of the wrap around plexiglass dodger on the deck above to confirm the window were the culprits and sure enough they were ...sealing the windows is up next. We also had a custom stainless flashing made up for both sides..about seven feet long, to steer any rain or wash water outboard of the window tracks to insure no further problems down the road. We replaced the liner inside which was in pieces after removal with a nice level loop carpet glued to the walls. (shades of the van conversion from the seventies). We also had snap in canvass made to fully cover the windows over its length that snap under the flashing for the winter and nasty rain days. This should do the trick.

Very interesting read, and very helpful as well. We just started to get water on the cushion fabric liner wall in the forward cabin. Thanks to all of you we went directly to the source of the problem, and skipped the guessing game. Seems the challenge now is to unscrew the top of the window (ours is a flip window) and put the cushion like wall back in place....
