Boat vacuum

Post by amanphoto »

I have messy kids! What is your recommendation for a boat vacuum? I would like one small and powerful for dry messes.

Plug in or Battery (boat has a generator, but if mess happens on hook?)
Where do you store it?
What do you have?

If you have carpeting, get one with a POWERED beater bar.

We have a cordless one that looks like the shark. The bottom part sits in a floor charger and the wand fits in a closet. Can't tell u the name of it at this moment. Mike

I pretty much boat alone most of the time so I bring my vacuum cleaner from home to vacuum out the boat when needed. I know that does not answer your question. I would agree with the poster that said if you have carpeting you need a more conventional vacuum cleaner one that will clean the carpeting.

Our boat has central vac..... not bad but not great either. We throw our Dysan in the truck every so often and give a good go over. For out on the hook we have a little shark vac that we use.

We have CV on ours too Fraser. I wasn't too crazy about it at first but I brought our powered beater bar and hose from our home CV and gave it a try. Way better with the beater bar. You can probably pick up a used one on Kijiji or something just for the boat.

We have a central vac also. Agree you do need a head with an electric beater bar. Not the air driven ones. We also picked up a mini electric beater bar about 6 inches or so wide. My wife loves it - great for stairs and small spaces where the regular head won't fit. Actually, since we got it that is all she uses!

This electric beater bar idea has me intrigued - I have never seen an aftermarket one....
