Hello Carver Folks
I have just bought a 2001 396 with Cummings 370Bs and can't here any blowers when I flip the blower switch on the DC fuse panel or the dash. I have never owned diesel before, but from what I have read is the gas pre-start blowers are not mandatory in a diesel boat. Can everyone confirm that Carver omitted the blowers with diesel but kept all the switched in place?
Regards Dan

Re: 396 diesel blowers
I have Cummins diesels in my 404 w/blowers in the port side fresh air intake. The blowers come on with the ignition switch.

Re: 396 diesel blowers
I have a 2002 406 with twin Cummins 330's, very similar to your 396. There are two blowers that are controlled by a switch at the helm and/or a switch at the electrical panel where I can also turn on the generator. Just look in your engine room for them. They should be connected inline to large (~ 5") ducts. The ducts should be open near the bottom of the bilge/engine compartment so it pulls air from the lowest point in the bilge.
