I recently purchased a 2001 444 CPMY. I want to put a davit system on swim platform to hold a 300 pound rib. Has anyone any ideas? Has anyone removed locker mounted on platform to make more room?
Thanks

Re: 444 CPMY davit and swim platform locker
My friend with a 356 took his platform-mounted locker off last year. They had used the platform to store the engine for their SIB, but since buying the RIB the engine no longer fit. Had the bolt-down holes repaired/filled but they don't match perfectly.
Loved the extra room on the platform and how easy it is to get his RIB into storage position.
Was going to sell the locker, but now since they realized there is a add-on platform available, they are now considering adding the platform and putting the locker back on. They have both options available at this time and like it.

Re: 444 CPMY davit and swim platform locker
I would go to Carver with this Question. I have found their service very helpful in dealing with my 2001 Carver 396. The 444 is a 396 with a rear cockpit. I would also think that the davit should base in the cockpit and support to the transom to use the boats structural strength. In my opinion!

I have a 444 also...
If you remove the storage box the gelcoat will not be the same color and the non-skid on the platform will need work along with holes that hold the storage box to the transom. So, there's some gelcoat work there.
I've been toying with the idea of a wave runner back there but haven't figured out exactly what to do yet.
300 pound RIB won't be an issue though, Carver at one point told be to stay under 600 pounds but this all depends on the application and conditions you boat in.

Re: 444 CPMY davit and swim platform locker
Thanks for comments. I have looked at Sea Weed. I think really expensive for such light weight dingy. Dingy caddy and Olsson Mfg have different system but again not cheap. On another boat I carried same dingy on Naughtly davit with no problem and cost less than $1800. 444 has locker in way.
