Water in forward and mid bilge

I would pull the boat, block it and repair ,take my time and repair properly if in fact it is the flange that is leaking.....some of those are plastic, could be cracked.....sounds like it is in an impossible spot, do it now then you have the rest of the season, worry free, got to be worth the cost of pulling the boat IMHO.......

Your right water is 49 degrees. The exhaust port is about 3 inches into the water. Don't sure how much lift I could get with lines? Do you know if there is wood core at that fitting? If so I would think it would require pulling and inspecting the core? Addressing whatever issues are discovered? I tried tightening the fasteners on the flange. They seemed a bit mushie. Couldn't feel a firm tightening?

I don't think there's core there, but I could be wrong. I'd be VERY disappointed in Carver if there was. Should be solid fiberglass. I think those are just wood screws into the fiberglass. You might pull one, plug something in there temp and get a screw the next size up and see if it will bite enough to tighten. OR you might try through-bolting it if you have access to the inside. You might be able to apply enough pressure to seal it up for the season or whenever your next haul-out might happen.

The fasteners are machine screws and nylok nuts. I think the best is to pull the boat. Look at both exhausts. Get it done right.

OK, I thought you were saying the screw wasn't tightening. You were tightening the machine screw with the nylok nut but it wasn't but you felt you were crushing something instead of getting a tighter fit?

Hmmm... maybe someone else knows if there's a core in there?

I don't know for certain, but there is not supposed to be wood below the water line.
The bad news is, it sounds like you need to pull the boat and repair it correctly, otherwise with a half as%ed repair you will be worried about it all season.
Good news is its early in the season. You should be able to pull, repair and splash before well before memorial day!

Tom you are right. I hope to get it pulled this coming week. We have 20-30 mph winds and lots of rain. Weather will have to let up.
It will be good to get things apart and inspect. I plan on doing both starboard and port.
Any advice on repairing is welcome.

dsolo, I have not yet had to execute this repair, hopefully some one else can chime in. I looked at by exhaust ports today. The are a semi flexible rubber. if you can get to the nuts on the back side, I would think (hopefully) you could loosen them enough to get clearance to clean the old adhesive and apply new.
Wishful thinking maybe...

Thanks Tom. I checked for broken or cracks in the elbow. Kinda difficult with boat in water. I believe I should get to the fasteners via the access port. The two hose clamps connecting the elbow to the exhaust hoses are accessable also. I hope it won't be too difficult to completely remove the elbow for inspection of it and hull?
Anyone with experience please pipe in.
We have strong winds and rain forecasted for the next couple days. Nothing will happen until weather permits.
