Control Knob - What does it do?

Post by sailtosteam »

Hello everyone,
I have a new to me 1997 405. In the aft cabin next to the A/C controls there is a black knob. About 1 1/2" in dia. It can be rotated, but I am not sure what it does or why it is there. It is connected to a black box in the master closet.

Any ideas what this knob is for and how to use it?

Thanks for your help.

Jim

I guess I should elaborate a bit on my comment.
Your main stereo controls the max volume. If this control is still operational, it will add resistance between the main unit and your aft cabin speakers allowing you to reduce the volume. You probably have also have these in the salon and on the bridge.

Jim,
Welcome to the 405 family. You can search on "405" and get lots of reading material. If you have the optional transom storage box be sure to look up the water intrusion problem at the swim platform. I acted on this information and found it was a problem. Good luck with the new boat. Look forward to sharing information. Dan
