just out of curiosity, if I switch port and starboard side tach gauges, will it cause any issues? straight switch, take port put it on starboard, starboard to port side?

I am assuming if starboard side tach acts up on port side there is an issue other than tach itself, where as if port still acts up on starboard side than it is the gauge with problem.

Will not harm anything. If the fault follows the gauge, it's the gauge that's the problem.

I am replacing all the cabin lights 17 of them with nice ones I got from superbrightleds site. Halogens were so hot made me nervous leaving it on while walked off the boat. The led are cooler, and look nicer (old ones bezels broke off in some cases and could not find replacements). Anyway when I go this week to replace the lights, will switch the tachometers up top (port to starboard, starboard to port) and see what happens. I took it out today for a short ride, was getting top speed of 12 knots again, engine sounded fine, but because port tachometer is jumping all over the place I can't tell whats going on. Also bottom may have got fouled up again as I have not used it a lot since last cleanup of little over a month maybe. Not sure bottom of boat getting stuff on it can loose that much performance. I think I was getting 21 knots, now 12 knots, can dirty bottom make that much difference?

FYI many of the recessed lights around mid to late 90's were made by hera model eh11 the decor rings are getting very hard to get. They have moved on to other models. found some available last year and bought a few for spares. I replaced the halogen bulbs with led but am using the same recessed fixtures didn't swap the whole thing.
Here's someone who still show some available there used to be more colors available but those were the first to go

Yes few months ago I found 2 bezels, but since 3 others broke soon as I touched it. I had baught led bulbs, but they also got hot. So I now replaced the entire module. does not require bezel, fits perfect. The only thing is it is chrome, brushed steel or gold (all metal, part of light, not a separate bezel). They get slight warm, but not hot to touch. After few minutes if you touch existing halogens, they seriously burn your hand, not these though. I am happy with these. The only thing is I gotten the natural white, was too bright. They were for testing, so I ordered all remaining as worm white. Not sure how bright they are, but should receive them and install them this week. I will update later this week with my results. Sorry this posting is getting off topic for the original. I think I had a posting on lights, I will reply back in that posting with my results :)

And put her the water again for the season.
Some unfinished projects that I thought I'd be done with:

bilge fume detector
finish cabin stereo install
make a forward bed extension so the bed is as wide at the feet as in the middle - what idiot designs a bed for two people with all four legs and feet with room for only two feet at the end?
And get rid of the flags and string some fishing line to keep the birds off. The flags work but are a bit hookey.

First time I read this thread.....I am impressed ,great job on the boat, your wife and yourself should be very proud of how it turned out...not so sure about the flags though.. :-D ...I have seen the rubber snakes and of course the owls that the birds like to perch on ... :beergood:
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.
