Lyndon, thanks for the post. I found my Port rubber elbow had damage from a critter also. Nothing like yours but enough to let water in. I ordered the replacement elbow today. I am hoping the new unit can be installed without removing the flange elbow at the hull? There is a expansion fitting that may give room to wedge the new boot between the plastic flange and ridget exhaust pipe. Any pointers would be helpful.
Also, does anyone have suggestions on blocking water at the hull so this can be done in the water? Is there a tape or plastic sheet that would work? I just paid for a hull out to fix the leak on the starboard exhaust flange, it was leaking at the hull.
Thanks

I have had the same problem, solved it with welded SS screen on the exhaust plate. I will send pictures and a good story when I go to the boat this weekend.

On mine I have a flange sticking out, so it was easy to wrap some plastic over it and just tape it to the flange.
On yours, you could get a wheel barrow tube. Cut it in half, closer to the valve. Seal both ends closed (5200 and a good tie-wrap would probably do the trick. Stick the "long" end into the exhaust with the valve end sticking out. Use a bike pump to fill the tube until it makes a seal around the edges.

Thanks for all the help on this issue. km1125 your idea of the inner tube is great. I received the elbow and hope to repair this weekend. See attached

Saw a muskrat swimming around in the lagoon where my marina is located. I think next season adding some sort of mesh in the exhaust outlets is a good idea.
