Generator rpm
My generator will not maintain rpm. It swings up and down continuously until sometimes it dies at the low end. This happens when it's on load or not. Thanks.

Re: Generator rpm
It may be as simple as a governor spring unhooked. If you post a model number, someone most likely has a manual.

Re: Generator rpm
If this is a gas generator......Could also be a partially restricted jet causing the engine to run lean,( hunting ) by the sounds of your explanation .....also there is an adjustment for idle mixture on the carb which may help a bit , but you need to read the manual to adjust only the mixture screw.....never adjust anything to do with rpm........

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: Generator rpm
How long have you run it? What kind of load do you run it on?
If it's not something simple (like the spring) then definitely sounds like a fuel condition. These don't typically get run a lot, so you can end up with carb issues from lack of use.

Re: Generator rpm
Is the water pump showing good volume flow? Low water volume will cause the generator sensor to shut down to protect the unit. You might need a new impeller.
