Mystery switch

Hey again! I have another question for you smarties!! We have a switch that looks like a light switch, that doesn't appear to do anything. (1999 Carver 356). It is at the stairs between the dinette and kitchen area. Their are 4 switches (that the website identified as light switches) but this one has a tiny blue bulb under it so that you can tell the switch is on. Almost like a light in the engine compartment that has the indacator lite by it in case you forget it's on since you can't see it? I have looked everywhere I can think of but can't seem to find what it controls. I searched the engine compartment thinking maybe the bulb is burnt out, but I can't locate a light down there. I tried to trace the wires from under there but I lose it in a cluster of wires. Anyone have any ideas?

My 405 has two switches at that location, one has the indicator light and controls three mounted lights in the engine room. The second was non functional but I traced it to a now unused capped wire for port side lights behind the dinette table above the portholes. A previous owner had installed LED's in there place controlled by a different source.

The light switch with the indicator light on it that comes on when the switch is turned on controls the engine compartment light. the light should be in the back of the engine compartment in the center between the 2 engines over the fresh water pump and battery charger.

Take a close look. It depends on the model but there's bound to be a couple of fixtures somewhere unless a previous owner removed them. Mine are one at the forward engine compartment bulkhead and the other as the bulkhead head behind the engines. They can be mounted anywhere but the idea is to try and illuminate the entire compartment within reason.

Does the pilot light at the switch work when you turn the switch on?
