Caver 3207 head issue

Post by ataylor233 »

Forward and Rear Head issue on my 86 carver 3207. the forward head worked as it should however today when flushing the plastic piece on the pump broke i will post a picture of it later ... its hard to explain... The rear head wont pump water into the system you push the button and no water comes into the tank .... it pulls in seawater and the valve is open. there is a T fitting that feeds the forward and rear head..... now i unscrewed the square block on the rear head to see if there was suction and there was... so i'm not understanding why no water is flowing......Does anyone know the model of the head so i can find parts or should i replace both heads ... i'm so tempted to strip the rear head and fix the front lol

Find your brand and model, as mentioned most likely Raritan for that vintage and purchase the repair kits with impellers and gaskets. Also the pump housing for the broken one. With even the slightest leak on the inlet side or the raw water pump, raritans will not pull water. If they are "t"d together and one has a vacuum leak, they both have a vacuum leak.

Have a Crown in my 87 Mariner. Took it out, bought a complete rebuild kit, tore it apart, repainted all the painted parts, reassembled, and works like a charm after all of that. Was actually fairly straightforward.
Thanks

When working on these heads, do yourself a favor and buy a tube of Teflon grease. It is much better for the plastics than any petroleum-based grease.
