Hi all, 1998 Carver 445 AC with a Maxwell Freedom 800 winch that is starting to misbehave. One of the manual's troubleshooting tips is to test the reversing solenoid, but it also says that during install, the solenoid is not supposed to be installed in the chain locker. Any idea where this might be found? Would they have put it in the helm station (where the remote panel is) or is it probably in the chain locker?
Thanks in advance!

Did you check the chain locker? It's not ideal but I've seen a lot of them installed there.

Re: Location of reversing solenoid
It is indeed in the chain locker, right where the manual says you are not supposed to put it.
However, I found the underlying problem with the winch -- my battery was starting to fail and was apparently not putting out sufficient amos to drive the winch. Switched to battery 2 and the winch works just fine. Ordered two new batteries, so once I manage to wrestle 2 127 lb batteries out and get the two new ones in, I should be good to go.
