Battery life without shore power.

Post by LoveAndLuck »

We will be docked outside of Neyland Stadium over the coming weekend for Vol Navy. Having never done this before, what is the standard time most of you will let your boat sit without running the generator? We will not be on the boat for the entire 5 days. We will be there from Wednesday to Sunday. We have a 2005 Carver 56 Voyager.

All depends on the house bank size and how many refrigerators you are running. A normal factory setup is usually fine for 24-36hrs at best. Empty the fridge and turn it/them off and you are good for weeks.

We would be able to turn off two of the three refrigerators and the freezer. Thank you!

Leaving 1 fridge on is helping tons but is still going to probably drain whatever house bank you have.if you haven't upgraded anything. You didn't say what size batteries you have for house but figure fridge runs maybe 12 hrs in 24 hrs at apx 6amps dc that's 72 amps a day x5 days is 360amp total assuming nothing else like a amplified tv antenna or something else that might be drawing a little you don't know about is left on.

I have 2 6v golf cart batteries for a house set up. Can run overnight of 16 hours and use 15% of the bank with the ref on.
