you will find many opinions here. I personally use Mobile 1 10/40 in my genny. As long as you use a quality oil and change it regularly you shouldn't have a problem.
Best wishes.

Same genny...for me it will get the same as the engines...Rotella 15w40 and I agree, any good quality oil in the right grade range won't steer you far wrong....
FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Lots of discussions/opinions about filter choices nowadays....anyway Wix/napa gold for me....a little more but I trust them....

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

15w 40 Rotella. Been using this in my previous inboards and the generator and still using the same in my diesel setup.

I don't put many hours on my boat (under 50 for sure) and would change oil seasonally so i'm not sure oem premium stuff is worth it.
I have used many different brands over the year including the poor Fram which has an undeserved bad reputation from long ago. Never an issue.

if you have remote oil filters that are inverted, make certain the filter you buy (no matter what brand) has an anti drain back valve or you get a second or two of dry run every time you fire it up.

I would not say that Fram's reputation was undeserved! When I saw the teardowns of the various filters, I was HORRIFIED to see the cardboard failures inside the Frams, as that it what I had been using for years. I have not used them since and have not seen any other teardowns to see if they've made improvements or not.
