I had to replace a dripless seal three years ago.. while the boat was still in the water. THAT was scary fun.

Had the local marina pull and replace both shaft seals. The leaky one (dripping around the seal itself) is still leaking after I brought it up to speed. The marina came and got it to fix. Haven't heard back yet.
The other one that was replaced wasn't leaking before and had no drips.

Marina fixed the drip. The issue was that they did not polish the shaft before putting the new seal on. At slow speeds it leaked. The last few times I have had it out, I have not had a problem.
