Mariner

For the first time since the late 1960's or early 1970's there is no Mariner model in Carver's line up. Now, I don't think I'll ever be in the market for one, but, I'm surprised that Carver saw fit to abandon a model that has been so instrumental in their success and survival. Admittedly, it was long in tooth, but instead of (or in addition to) the C34, I believe they should (have) designed a new 32 -35 Mariner. These are the boats that saved Carver from extinction in the past. Why would you abandon that heritage?

Okay...after some research, the 33 Mariner came out in 1975. The 28 Mariner came out 1971. That's a lot of history to let go.

I think all the boat manufacturers must scale back on offerings. I own a Mariner, love the layout, but I do not believe I've ever liked the looks of any of them. I can see why they went with the C models - roomy and not bad looking.

Have you seen the prices on these things? Yikes!

I feel a little sad that they no longer carry a mariner. . Maybe in 30 years I can afford the C34, if I'm still alive and kickin. The price is definitely up there. Just depends on your use. I have too many other hobby's to invest all in the one.

Going to diesel....that would be nice. We always attempt to get diesels for vehicles though the price does not always permit it. Our 15 passenger van has ~310,000 miles, 7.3 power stroke, and it is one of our best running vehicles, along with our Prius.

We did consider a Albin Aft cabin with a single diesel, but I think that would be a downgrade from our Mariner

My starter boat is a 1990 Mariner 28. I LOVE it. Easy boat to learn on.

Agree X10...... I don't think you will find a better use of 35ft. Clearly best in class.

Hello to all Mariner owners.
I am about to purchase a 2005 vintage 360 and would appreciate any/all feedback on owning a Mariner.
Seems to be the right boat for our needs but would love to hear from folks with direct experience.
The company itself seems to be very responsive to my inquiries and has been helpful in answering questions and providing information, so I am comfortable with that aspect of the purchase.
However, I would love any feedback that you can provide both good and bad.

We have had our 1997 Mariner for 20 Seasons, love the boat accommodates a lot of guests and has plenty of room. The wife liked it the first time we saw it. The rest is history. I personally like the wide gunnels, front seat and low number of steps going up or down. Not to mention great visibility forward. Only complaint is visibility from the bridge port aft is obstructed when stern-ing in to dock. Corrected that with a flag mast that is visible from the bridge. The open cockpit is nice to enjoy the outdoors with a couple of deck chairs.
