thermostat for marineair 3 knob control
I have a 1990 santego 3867 and I need a new thermostat that mounts on the 3 knob control. Anyone know where I can purchase one and what it will cost?

You may find you are better off to just upgrade your controls for $175: http://www.marinaire.com/Marine-Air-Con ... ck1-an.htm

I agree. The electronic conversion will give you more functionality plus a digital readout which is always handy so you can set a pretty accurate temperature. The other option is to keep an eye on eBay for the original controller.
Have you tested the t-stat and confirmed that it has indeed failed?

I looked at the upgrade unit and I think I will keep looking for the thermostat as the easy fix.

Re: thermostat for marineair 3 knob control
I had my t-stat fail. I was told that the T-stat was $100 and easy enough for me to install without another service call Apparently the cold winter causes it to stay in heat only. Cabin was about 90 degrees. I am going to look for the digital replacement option as the tech told me is a better way to go until the 15 year old compressor finally dies. It is a B-O-A-T after all!

And of course the compressor really did die! Now I need to think about a new unit.

To add on to the above, is this really as simple a job as it seems? Since unit is recharged from factory, hooking up seawater in and out and running control lines in a suprisingingly accessible chase will have us cool and warm again. Any likes or dislikes as to brand of units? Prices seem to vary wildly.

Re: thermostat for marineair 3 knob control
If you want a simple change out, look for a unit with the same dimensions, capacity and connections as your existing unit.
I have used mermaid and marine airr, both work well. The marine airr has more complex controls. The mermaid will work with any thermostat.
