If it is done like most Carver "add ons" with no back side access, there are aluminum plates fiberglassed in the structure that the bolts for the overhang are threaded into. If you intend on leaving the wood there, you'll have to use the sun shade as a template to locate the holes and then drill without damaging the threads in the aluminum plates. I've never had one of these off, so this is just an assumption, but there's no way he could have gotten it off if there aren't access holes behind the backrest of the aft bridge seat.

Hey ,
I never thought of that, thank you , that's a big help, now another really stupid question, I have speakers all around the boat with volumn control knobs, but for the life of me I can't find the am/ fm radio, I looked every where to no avail

Well...if it's not in the factory location, I don't know where they would have put it. The factory mounted it on the end of the galley module, right next to the fwd end of the dinette.

I'm sure you've already looked there, but try in the electrical panel...maybe they wanted to keep it out of sight, or in a galley cupboard. If the boat came prewired (as stereos were optional back then), Carver would have run the wiring to the location that they mount the stereo in, so look near there...maybe even in the overhead cabinets

Hi,
Was checking out the mercruisers today and was wondering how you would get to them to work on,
I lifted the hatches but even with that to get to the dist is almost impossible as far as I can see, and the same with the v drives....am I not finding something?
