Re: Smoking engines
What colour is it,blue tinge would be oil smoke, blackish grey would be excess fuel, white would probably be steam......if it is white then check water flow thru engines, exhaust manifold temps, turbos etc ....do engines sound louder than usual....both the same.???
One more question, has this just begun or ongoing....I know a lot of questions, but...

FWIW.....The above is just my opinion.

Re: Smoking engines
The are over 21, so it's legal for them to smoke.
Like Bud said, smoke or steam? Dark or light? Each one has a different probable cause...

Re: Smoking engines
Have a 2001 Carver 466 MY, it has smoked at different times, after checking a lot of things out, poor fuel or old fuel can be
a big factor. Started adding Cetane boost to fuel and stopped almost all of it depending on how hard I run the
engines and depending on how loaded I am with people etc.

Re: Smoking engines
Ok, so cetane is for diesel fuel. I'm guessing here, but sounds like your on the right track of bad fuel. Diesel fuel likes to grow bacteria, which is not optimal. FPPF makes some great diesel fuel additive too. I'd continues on the path of getting all the old fuel out of your tanks. Also another point is that diesel tank condensate more so than gasoline tanks, so you could have considerable amount of water in your fuel. I was taught in the industrial area of diesel engines and fuels, that diesels should be filled after each use to lessen the condensation in the tank. Remember, hot excess diesel fuel is pumped back into the fuel tanks, so after a good run, the fuel in the tanks in quite warm, adding to the increased chance of condensation if the tanks are not put up full. Also make sure your air filters are clean and you have no air intake restrictions.

Re: Smoking engines
Hi,
For the record, it turned out to be dirty injectors. Filling the filters with Seafoam prob would have sufficed but we went ahead and pulled/cleaned the injectors in the name of preventative maintenance.
